Quayside 5K (Spring) & Junior Races on Wed 22 April 2026
We welcome all runners to our event from beginners in their first race, to local international runners and we are committed to helping all runners at all levels to achieve a PB in our event.
In the A-Race we have a generous prize structure and elite entry as detailed below to continue to strengthen our reputation as the strongest 5km race in the region.
We are honoured to host the NECAA Championships (North East Counties Athletics Association) in the Quayside 5k where the 1st Male and Female will be awarded the historic Wallsend Harriers & AC Terry O’Gara Trophies.

Entries will be assessed against performances achieved within the last 2 years, including equivalent standards over other distances, track results, and notable cross-country performances. Please add a note to your entry to highlight any results you’d like us to consider.

Junior Races
We are committed to supporting junior grassroots athletics by reducing financial barriers to entry, and would like to develop top level junior athletics competition.
We would like to invite all top North East Junior athletes to compete in the event with a free Elite Junior Entry provided they meet the criteria below in the last 12 months.
The John Stephenson BEM Trophy will be presented to the winner of the Junior Quayside 3k race – named after Gateshead Harriers legendary master coach.

Top Flight Series & Quayside 5k Prize Structure
The winner of Quayside 5k receives 25 points, the second-place finisher 18 points, with 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 points for 3-10th towards their Top Flight Races series points total.
